On St. Patrick’s day I flew to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete with GBUFC in the final three games of the US Youth Soccer National League. If we finished in the top two of the red division, we would advance to the National Championships in Frisco, TX in July.
We were hoping for a win in our first game, but came out of it with a tie instead. A 2-0 loss to Cincinnati dropped us into third as we headed into our final game. If we won our last game, we would advance. Talk about pressure!
We had a few early chances, but nothing found it’s way to the back of the net until my teammate Emma hit a great shot just outside the 18, putting us up 1-0. We managed to hold on for the final ten minutes, to solidify our top two finish.
I’m looking forward to TX, but if Match Fit stays in first place in their ECNL division, it just might be my second national championship this summer! The ECNL u14 playoffs and championship are in San Diego in June. Now to keep working hard to stay in top form between now and then…
Next up – Because of traveling to ODP events in FL & AZ, and to NC & NE with GBUFC, I’m sitting out ECNL San Diego and the U14 Showcase in Greer, SC 😦 But I have the ECNL spring season with Match Fit & Region 1 Champions League with GBUFC to look forward to the next few months.
