The ECNL U14 Finals were held in Oceanside, CA last week. My team was in Group D. We played Michigan Hawks (4-1 loss), Tophat (4-3 loss) & Eagles (3-0 loss). Of course we were hoping for better results, but we reminded ourselves that we were one of the top 16 teams in the country and a lot of other teams weren’t lucky enough to attend the championships. I had two assists in the three games we played.
It was a great week and I learned that I LOVE CA! I’ve added some west coast schools to my list now and even got the chance to visit Loyola Marymount and UCLA campuses while we were there. It was so hard to come home!
I’m a little sad that my first year in the ECNL is over. Because of the birth year changes, some of my friends will be on the 2001 team. A few others are going to other teams. The 2002 team is going to look a lot different because there are only four of us left, but I’m looking forward to getting to know the new girls at our July practices.
I can’t believe this year is almost over. It’s going to be a hard one to top! I got to see the country – FL with Region 1 ODP, Phoenix for National ODP camp, CA with MFA and then next up – TX with GBUFC for the USYS National Championship later this month.
I’m setting new goals for next year and hope it’s as good as this one was!
